Carl Heitmann

Carl Heitmann is a skilled artist known for his exceptional pen and ink drawings. From an early age, he displayed a natural talent for art, spending countless hours sketching and experimenting with different mediums. As he honed his skills, Carl discovered a particular passion for pen and ink, captivated by the medium's ability to create intricate details and textures.

Formal education played a crucial role in Carl's artistic development. He attended Bournville College of Art, where he received comprehensive training in various art forms, including life drawing and graphic design. His career began working as an illustrator creating drawings for book covers, product packaging, sportscar manuals as well as developing architectural visualisations.

In the 1990’s he was commissioned to create a number of drawings for motor enthusiasts and classic car owners, becoming a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists exhibiting work at both the Coventry Motor Museum and the British Motor Museum.A relocation to Dolgellau in North Wales provided the inspiration to open his first gallery presenting beautiful watercolour scenes of the vistas in and around Snowdonia National Park.

During this time, Carl's focus on pen and ink intensified, and he refined his cross-hatching and stippling techniques, becoming proficient in creating stunning visual contrasts of landscapes, wildlife and historic buildings.

From his home now in Cheshire, he takes commissions for a variety of works, as well as continuing to expand his portfolio all in pen and ink.
