Having studied Ceramics and Textiles at Llandrillo College my passion for making and working with clay continues strongly.
Working from my small local studio my pieces are first formed from soft slabs of textured clay.
Making-in small batches and hand building once the piece are dry they are first fired at 1000degs, I will then use bright coloured glazes to highlight the patterns are then refired to 1080degs which is an Earthenware temperature.
My work is often inspired by nature and I will print patterns from leaves, seeds, bark and shells. In fact anything if it leaves a pattern, I love experimenting with random items too, from Swimming caps to Wedding dress fabric to bubble wrap.
I also love to include my second passion, Vintage Lace and Embroidery, capturing the stitches of another crafts person into my own work, especially when it has belonged to a family member gives me great joy.
I am always looking for new ideas new glazes new forms, I feel this keeps my work constantly evolving and that my love for ceramics comes through in my work.
Each piece I hope has a personality and a story to tell.
