Nicky Fish

Nicky Fish works primarily as a conservationist and Wildlife Instructor who is passionate about nature & wildlife and started her own company Second Nature some 20 years ago, running bushcraft workshops and leading guided walks after many years of being a ranger and working for conservation organisations in Snowdonia and across Wales.

Nicky lives amongst the woodland she adores and is inspired by near Betws-y-coed and where she began crafting wood, making Welsh Stick chairs - one of the first women doing this all by hand - undertaking the whole process from cutting her own raw timber to creating the finished product. Back then she was nicknamed the 'Artful Bodger' and was honoured to exhibit and demonstrate her skills at the Eisteddfod and many other shows.

Nicky now crafts beautiful handmade boxes for birds and bats as well as well as walking sticks, each with its own unique name taken from the Welsh myths and are beautifully crafted from sustainably sourced Snowdonian hazel and blackthorn woods and finished to the highest standard. All the proceeds from Nicky's work go towards her conservation and education projects to benefit wildlife and people - Nicky is creating a wildlife & forest garden with wildflowers to help pollinating insects, ponds and wildlife habitats and nesting boxes for birds and bats.

You can buy one of Nicky's creations to help wildlife or you can join her for one of her fascinating walks or attend a workshop and learn to craft your own.
